Whwnever I think of James Whitmore, my mind goes straight to his gangster Slug in the old musical Kiss Me Kate. Especially watching him play off of the equally great Kennan Wynn.
The Hurt Locker (A- 2nd Viewing) The best Iraq War film yet. Great performances, tense action and almost pitch-perfect direction.
Up (A-) Had me blubbering like a little girl. Not as rewatchable as previous Pixar efforts, but still moving. A perfect example of great voice acting.
Inglourious Basterds (B+) A little long-winded, but a blast to watch. Christoph Waltz steals the show, while Tarantino again fails to dissappoint.
(500) Days of Summer (B+) Two great performances by the leads and a great date movie. A romantic comedy that strives for originality over box-office allure.
G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra (D-) One God-awful steaming pile of crap. Good thing Sienna Miller was there or I would have gouged out my eyes.
Basic Instinct (B-/C+) Yeah, Sharon Stone was hot, but my God...talk about the most dated movie of the past 20 years. Just look at that awful club scene. Unitentional comedy at it's best.
